Meandering Stream at Dusk

How it Describes “My Elmira”

The painting Meandering Stream at Dusk is a view from the beautiful Kissing Bridge Trail where it passes across the north edge of Elmira. I was particularly drawn to the interesting composition created by the meandering route of the stream, the location of the trees along the bank, and the rolling hills in the background. The setting sun illuminating the dispersed clouds gave a dramatic glow to the sky. Biking this trail in the evening is always a relaxing way to end the day.

Artist Statement

The beauty of nature inspires me to paint. I am particularly drawn to the warm colours of twilight skies or autumn foliage, which compliment the plentiful cool colours often present in natural scenes. I enjoy interpreting these scenes using acrylic paint because of its quick drying properties, which allow painting in layers and the use of dry brush techniques. Painting is a relaxing activity and gives me a sense of gratification.
