A Glowing Day

Location: 60 Arthur St S., Elmira

How it Describes “My Elmira”

Since living in Waterloo for over 20 years, I have explored Elmira several times out of personal interest and for art-related activities. A friend of mine used to live there, and when I visited her, I experienced a calm way of living. However, there is still so much to explore in the countryside. I have always enjoyed the open views of the landscapes, and the flowers and sunflowers fields. I associate those beautiful memories with the bright sunflowers on a shiny day!

Artist Statement

Drawing and painting have been my lifelong passion as a visual learner. My major interest is the process of creation, working with the representation of my subjects and ideas. My work has evolved from traditional to impressionist and abstract style. Using oil and acrylic painting mostly; bright colours, and texture are some characteristics in my paintings. I am intrigued by nature and human figures; therefore, portraits, landscapes and flowers are common subjects in my art.

Artist Bio

My interest in art started in my childhood in Mexico. There, I got my first drawing and paintings courses. Later, in my adulthood , I took an oil painting in 2004 in Conestogo area, Ontario. Then, my teacher became my mentor and encouraged me to exhibit my paintings in the same year. I have combined self-taught and art-instruction to develop my art. In the community, I have participated as a volunteer, art instructor, art-organizations’ member, and art-collaborator.
